Starting in Bovec, this route takes on one of Slovenia’s most spectacular and demanding road climbs, leading to Mangart Saddle (2,055 m)—the highest paved road in the country. The journey begins by following the Koritnica River toward Log pod Mangartom, where the first steep ascents already test the legs. These early ramps, winding through the narrow valley, set the tone for what lies ahead.

Upon passing through Log pod Mangartom, the true climbing begins. The road toward Predel starts brutally steep before easing off slightly, allowing a moment of relief before reaching the crucial fork for Mangart Road. From here, the final challenge awaits.

Turning onto the Mangart ascent, the climb immediately delivers a steep, exposed section, where the narrow road clings to the mountainside. After this dramatic start, there’s no turning back—only sheer willpower will carry you to the top. The road relentlessly ascends through a series of breathtaking switchbacks, passing alpine meadows and tunnels carved into the rock.

At 1,880 m, a barrier marks the final stretch, officially closed due to rockfall risks, but with a bit of caution it is safe to continue. The panoramic views at the summit, however, make every grueling pedal stroke worthwhile.
