The Triglav Loop is our flagship tour: three point-to-point stages that circle Triglav National Park and Slovenia's highest mountains, starting and finishing at our base in Srpenica in the Soča valley. Over roughly 250 km and 4,700 m of climbing you cross Soriška planina, roll along Lake Bohinj and over the Pokljuka plateau, pass Lake Bled, slip into Italy at Tarvisio and return over the Predil Pass and the mighty Mangart Saddle (2,055 m) — the highest paved road in Slovenia.

You ride every kilometre with a local guide who trains on these roads year-round. Our support van moves your luggage from hotel to hotel and meets the group at key points of every stage with snacks, drinks and a mechanic's toolbox — so you climb light and descend relaxed. Evenings are taken care of too: comfortable 3–4★ hotels with breakfast and dinner included.

This is a private tour: we run it exclusively for your group of 4–8 riders, on your dates, at your pace. Prefer gentler days? We ride the same loop in 4 stages. Want more? Add an optional extra day over the legendary Vršič Pass.

Day 1: Soča valley → Bohinj over Soriška planina

81 km · 1450 m of climbing

We roll out of Srpenica along the emerald Soča river, through Kobarid and Tolmin to Most na Soči, then turn into the narrow Bača valley. The day's main course is the long, steady climb to Soriška planina (1,277 m) — quiet, shaded and beautifully graded — followed by a fast descent to Bohinjska Bistrica beneath the southern walls of the Julian Alps.

Day 2: Bohinj → Kranjska Gora via Pokljuka and Lake Bled

85 km · 1400 m of climbing

The morning starts with a lap along Lake Bohinj, then climbs through quiet spruce forest onto the Pokljuka plateau (about 1,250 m), deep inside Triglav National Park. A long rolling descent drops us to Lake Bled — time for coffee and the famous cream cake — before back roads up the upper Sava valley bring us to Kranjska Gora at the foot of the highest peaks.

Day 3: Kranjska Gora → Soča valley over the Mangart Saddle

84 km · 1700 m of climbing

The queen stage. We cross into Italy at Tarvisio and climb past the turquoise Lago del Predil to the Predil Pass on the old border road. Then comes the grand finale: the Mangart road, topping out at 2,055 m — the highest paved road in Slovenia — with its rock tunnels, serpentines and huge views across the Julian Alps. A twenty-kilometre descent past Log pod Mangartom and the Kluže fortress rolls us back to Bovec and our base in Srpenica.

Frequently asked questions

How fit do I need to be?

Stages are 81–85 km with 1,400–1,700 m of climbing. If you are comfortable riding at around 2.5 W/kg for a few hours — similar to our Vršič or Mangart day rides — you will enjoy the loop. The guide sets a social pace and the group regroups on every climb.

When does the tour run?

June to September. The Mangart road and the high passes are usually snow-free from late May or June until October — outside this window the loop is not rideable.

What if the weather turns or I can't finish a stage?

Our van meets the group at set points along every stage and can pick you up or shortcut a section at any of them. In severe weather we adjust the stage or the schedule together with you.

Can you rent me a road bike?

Yes. Quality road bikes from our rental fleet can be added to your booking — tell us your height and preferred setup when you enquire.

Can a non-riding partner come along?

Usually yes — depending on van space we can take a non-riding companion who joins the hotels, dinners and viewpoints. Ask when booking.

Can we ride the loop in 4 days instead of 3?

Yes. We run the same loop in four gentler stages with an extra hotel night. Mention it in your enquiry — expect roughly €300–400 per person on top.

Does the loop cross the Vršič Pass?

No — the loop deliberately takes the quieter Italian side around the mountains. If Vršič is on your bucket list, add an optional extra day over the pass at the start or end of your tour.

Where do we sleep?

Night 1 in Bohinjska Bistrica, night 2 in Kranjska Gora, plus a night at our base in Srpenica before or after the ride — comfortable 3–4★ hotels and guesthouses with en-suite rooms.
